Milling Made Simple

  1. Assemble the food mill by attaching its handle and base securely
  2. Select the milling disc required and fill it with your desired ingredients, such as cooked vegetables, fruits, or potatoes
  3. Place a bowl underneath, then turn the handle clockwise until all of the ingredients have been processed through it, leaving behind seeds and skins
  4. Use a spoon or spatula to remove any remaining bits from the inside before disassembling for cleaning and storage

I was following my grandmas directions for applesauce & it definitely included hand peeling the apples. One batch of apples took 2 hours to peel!!! 😣 Talked to my MIL and she said her grandma used a food mill without peeling the apples. THIS ITEM SAVES HOURS OF PEELING!! I will never peel another apple before making applesauce and I’m buying one for my mom & sis in law now too! 👌
I will say- this thing works so well the first batch I did, it ground up the peels so I didn’t have much to pull out. We have a transparent apple tree so these apples are softer than others and I feel like they cook down more than others. 2nd batch I paid attention more and backed out the mill (turned it counter clockwise) and used a fork to pull out the peels rather than grinding them into the sauce! It was easy to put together and easy to take apart and wash! 10/10 recommend getting one if you make applesauce!

First time using a food mill and it was surprisingly easy with this tool.

It’s fairly straightforward to snap in the correct plate and then fit the crank. I did tomatoes from the garden and did two passes, one with large holes to get the skins off and one with the smallest holes to get the seeds out. Not a single seed in the batch.

I recommend detaching the plate and rinsing as soon as you are done. Very excited to do applesauce next!
